From Perugia to Palermo on Rgs carriages Approximately 20 convoys compete with freight trains transported prefabricated concrete elements made in Sicily by Perugia General Prefabricated. The “Scilla” ferry boat was involved in the transport of one of these FS “Rgs” type carriage convoys loaded with Spiroll hollow core floor slabs and prestressed beams designed for construction of the “La Torre” Shopping Centre in Palermo. The “Rgs” carriages (R: current type of trolley platform, g: equipped for container transport, s: 100 km/h) have a total length of 19.9 metres between bumpers, with provide a loading surface their 4 axles of 51.5 m² and are used for the transport of containers, trunks, tubes and other types of goods.
